Episode 5 - There's a Catfish Among us

Welcome back to another episode of The Circle

Let's start with the Player who was Instantly Blocked from The Circle

Leonard: "..."

Heather: "Hey darling, guess who's coming to visit you? It's only "Cindy" or should I say, It's only Cindy's Mom. ;) Thought I'd come and see one of my favorites before I went back home. Sorry 'bout all the smoke and mirrors, I was just trying to fit in with you younger folk but guess that was harder than I expected"

Leonard: "Yo! Here I am in the flesh. Exciting isn't it? I'm honestly surprised I'm someone's favorite since I haven't been here long. You know, some of the others did suspect you were actually Cindy's mom. People here must be sharp. How do you feel now that you're going back home?"

Heather: "I got mixed feelings, to be honest, part of me is glad to be going home to see my kids, I bet they been missing me terribly, another part of me wanted to stay because I've been having so much fun being somebody else for a change. When I survived the first blocking and then the second I thought I had a real chance of slipping under the radar, maybe making it further based purely on the fact that I wasn't seen as a threat. Guess the instant blocking got me in the end, a bit of a bummer but that's the way it goes"

Leonard: Yeah, that was such a twist. I get that a lot of people didn't trust you but that instant block really bit you in the ass. Any plans outside of seeing your kids? Make more country music? Hahaha

Heather: "Oh god, I ain't got a musical bone in my body sugar! Haha! It was Cindy's dad, my late husband Bill that was the singer in the family. I'm more of a baker tbh, that's why I was so glad I didn't have to sing anything. I guess that's what I'm planning to do more of now, I run a baking blog in my spare time so I'd like to get into baking cupcakes professionally. Perhaps I could send you some?"

Leonard: Oh definitely. I'm no baker myself but it's not too late to start trying something right? I just know how to cook some basic things since I've lived by myself for some time now. Sorry about your husband, Heather. Maybe I could give him a listen once this is all done to honor him.

Heather: "Thank you, sweetheart. I'd like that and I'm sure the kids would too! I suppose it was wanting to try something before it was too late that made me want to join The Circle in the first place, you see when you got a working horse ranch to run and 5 young un's to look after most of your time is already taken. I needed a break and then by sheer luck this came along! Cindy was the one that first suggested I sign up actually, I thought I'd never fit in with the younger crowd, as you can probably tell social media is not my strong point so that's when we came up with the idea for me to pose as her... I don't think I was very successful at that"

Leonard: I guess so. It's really hard when you try to craft an image for other people. Maybe it's some you're not or someone you want people to see you as. I imagine it can be tiring. I hope you got the break you needed while you were here. I'm still kinda a newcomer and I'd like to get to know people some more. I'm also starting to miss my friends and family back at Bridgeport but I'll manage, heh.

Heather: "Yeah, I'm definitely not cut out to be a country music star, even if it is a pretend one. I should probably save that for someone a bit younger and more active. Well, I wish you luck darling, hope they treat you kindly!"

Leonard: *whispers* I hope so. This is something I've always wanted.

And then Shantelle. Who will she meet?

Shantelle: Ughmmm...

Shaun: "..."

Shantelle: Hi Shaun. It's me, Shantelle! I came to visit you because you were the one who had my back 100%

Shaun: *thinking* I knew she would XD I guess she’s kinda feeling betrayed by Theron then.

Shaun: Shantelle! I knew you wouldn’t leave me behind without saying goodbye!... I’m absolutely shocked you were blocked. My gut sank. I thought it was me and when it was you, I was furious. I thought you’d win this game! The Circle just lost the best girl!

Shantelle: I had to come and see you after what happened tonight. I wasn't expecting it whatsoever! I need you to go and win this for me now, do you think you can do it?

Shaun: Trust me, I was as shocked as you were. It should have been me. I’ll do my best to make it to the end but it won’t be as fun without you in the finals with me! At least we got to meet face to face finally... You’re much prettier than I could have ever expected, but I’m sure you were expecting more on my end. Haha!

Shantelle: No, you deserve to still be here in the game! I'm glad we got to meet face to face too, but hey you are a cute guy! Don't forget it, sir. Haha, we are still going out partying once this show is over yeah?

Shaun: Well, I’m a bit more awkward in person I guess. Haha. Oh, you bet your dollar we are! We’ve got a lot of missed hangouts to make up for. We’ve had weeks of nothing but social teasing and isolation. You name a place, I’ll be there.

Shantelle: Aren't we all? I know I try and act confident all the time but deep down I do get nervous too. Yes, we have a lot of partying to catch up on! I'll have a look where is best for both of us and come back with a few hotspots!

Shaun: Sounds like a plan!... And hey, I'm so so sorry that you're out of the game now. You honestly were my pick to win, even before me. I don't know what Ivy and Theron were thinking. I'm feeling betrayed now, and I feel like all I have left is Kizzie. Who should I talk to?

Shantelle: I was my pick to win too! I'm joking, it's sad to go but it is what it is. The best way to play this is to keep in the loop with everyone, keep talking but keep your wits about you. If you smell a stunt try to avoid it at all costs.

Shaun: Well, it's comforting to know that my number 1 was the real deal! The most real deal out there! *whispers to self* The hottest one too... Either way, I'll keep up with the Circle and just keep trying my best. Friendship for me never came easy. #UglyDuckling... Wait, why are we still using hashtags? We're face to face!

Shaun: Hey, I may be a bit of a flirt but maybe I'm just genuine with my opinions ;) Either way, I'm glad to have met you here. Excited to catch up after the show! It seems we don't get much time left here either, but I promised I had a gift for whoever came to visit but I uhh... Forgot to pop the champagne I was saving. My bad... I do, however, have something for YOU specifically...

Shantelle to Shaun: Maybe you are! We don't have much time, I've enjoyed this little meeting though. Oh, what is that?

Shaun to Shantelle: Well, it’s not the greatest but I’ve had plenty of time here to sit and think and make something so... Here! It’s a kind of paper mache heart I made for you specifically. It’s actually made out of a few lists of films I was gonna recommend you to watch after the show. So I hope you like it. Haha... I’m lame, I know. I own it.

Shantelle: Lame or not, I really appreciate it! There are some good movies on here, I'll definitely give them a watch while you're still playing the game. I'll save a few for when you get out though. We can have our very own movie night!

Shaun: Sounds like a plan then! Sadly, I think this is goodbye for now. I hope the outside world treats you well and I’ll see you come to the finale I’m sure! Thanks for coming by. Glad you did.

Willow to self: Wait, another blonde Heather?! Haha, my real twin has a name twin! I had my suspicions, but - well, I suppose it's nice to be vindicated. And this means I've got two people to meet in real life! Assuming the real Cindy-Lou's as nice as her mum, that is...

Kizzie: I wish she had come in as herself, I gladly would have trusted her more. It's harder to know what parts are a lie and what's the truth when something feels off. You can tell when someone isn't being true to themselves. It's a shame really. I'll have to go get drinks with her after the show though, let her know there are no hard feelings.

Theron: I really wish I could turn back the time... I'm so sorry, Babe... Can you forgive me?

Ivy: I really feel bad about Shantelle and thought Theron would've saved her.

Message. I'm sorry I couldn't save Shantelle. It was just like last round, both I and Theron had 2 votes to save someone. I used mine to save you, Kizzie and Addy, and apparently, he used his vote to save the guys over Shantelle. I think Shantelle dug her own grave by getting close with Theron, he scored much higher than the rest of the guys. I think that she put him on top of her rating and he used said power to save the guys. Send message.

Addy: I can't believe we lost 2 girls! That's a shocker!

Message. In all honesty, Shantelle was the last person I would have expected to see getting blocked. Heck, after the ranking, I thought I was going home. Smiley face Emoji. I know I always brand myself as veeeeery eccentric, but I'm not all jokes and quirks, I also have a serious side, and a tiny hint of an insomniac. Leonard: Aww, my twin newbie...

Message. Phew, yeah it was close. I've made some ties with a few people but not so much with the rest. There's really a lot to keep track of. I feel like those few ties I made did save me from getting instantly blocked. Who knew this game would be this tense? I'm just gonna wind down for a bit and see what comes next. Message. Honestly same. I mean the one instantly blocked happened to be a catfish, so we were very lucky. What I wanted to talk to you about actually is more a question. You said you are a realtor, how did you get into that branch and what is your favorite part about it? Send message.

Leonard: Message. Yeah, we were lucky "Cindy" happened to be a catfish after all. And Willow got off easy because she couldn't be ranked that round. Lucky her.
About real estate, I figured a few years back that the real estate market in Bridgeport was booming and that it was something I could imagine myself doing. I took some courses and got my license after a while. I'm doing pretty well for myself I'd say.
What about you? Are you enjoying what you're studying so far? Kazakh literature sounds like an obscure field of study so you must've had few choices in schools over there. Send message.

Oh, I've heard about them but I didn't get to read them yet. Maybe we should start reading them together after the show and keep each other up-to-date on what we think of them? Send message.

Kizzie: Message. I would love that! I got a whole collection from my grandmother's house when we emptied it but they've just been collecting dust. It could be a fun little book club to get me out of my nook. I need to read more books, that aren't just the same favorites I gravitate towards. Message send.

Ivy: Message. Hmm, I think that Shantelle was ultimately the victim of the expectations I had of Theron and vice versa. I'm close with Kizzie, Addy, and Shantelle, but I ultimately could only choose two to save, and I chose to save Kizzie and Addy because I expected Shantelle was most likely to be saved by Theron. I think Theron saved you and Leonard over Shantelle because he expected that out of you three I was most likely to save Shantelle... My theory is that Shantelle's position in the middle between me and Theron meant her downfall. Yeah, my main idea on which people I chat and hang out with is based on how much I like them and on how beneficial they are for my position in the Circle. I recall in fact that you were one of the first people I had contact with when the game just started.
